Another of those cheap airline tricks…

Used to be that you kind of had an idea of what your airfare was going to cost. The airline newspaper ads told you (albeit in the very fine print at the bottom) what the fare was, that the fare was higher on certain days, and that the least expensive seats might not be available on all flights. But the latest of the cheap airline tricks is to charge a “surcharge” on the peak travel days around the holidays. It’s usually 10 bucks. This way they can advertise the fare as being ‘generally available’, but then slam you with the “peak surcharge” when your travel falls on those peak days right around Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s.
