Plantar fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis is a problem of the plantar fascia. The plantar fascia is a very strong ligament on the bottom of the foot that extends from the heel bone to the ball of the foot. Its job is to support the arch of the foot, so anything which puts the arch of the foot under pressure is likely to increase the risk for problems. These kinds of problems that increase the risk for plantar fasciitis are things like tight calf muscles, poor running shoes, overweight, high levels of activity, hard grounds and poor foot biomechanics. The treatment of plantar fasciitis is to address these areas.
